Founded in 1965, the French Economic History Association (Association française d'histoire économique, AFHE) brings together researchers whose work relates to economic history, from antiquity to the present day and in all geographical areas, without being limited to history in a narrow disciplinary definition. It is the French member association of the IEHA (International Economic History Association).

In accordance with the French tradition in this field, the AFHE defines economic history in a broad way, including work at the frontiers of social, political, urban, scientific, technical history, management and environmental history, etc. It is open to all quantitative and qualitative methods and to all scales of analysis.
